Cross-country skiing on the Hochkönig
on four top trails

The peak of emotions invites you to enjoy a wide range of sports and leisure activities all year round. In winter, many can hardly wait to strap on their skis or snowboard and conquer the countless kilometres of pistes. One of the most popular alternatives is cross-country skiing on the Hochkönig. The Nordic sport combines quite challenging endurance training with grandiose views in the silent, snow-covered winter landscape. In the entire region, about 40 km of cross-country trails in Nordic and skating style await the runners. The following four trails are without question among the highlights at the peak of emotions.

Hochmaisloipe

With its three kilometres, the circuit through Hinterthal offers the perfect route for cross-country skiers with some experience who want a brief overview of the region. The largely flat trail with a classic and a skating course is almost completely flat and focuses instead on magnificent views – a highly congenial introduction to Nordic pleasure.

Arthurhaus-Höhenloipe

Speaking of views: beginners appreciate the high-altitude cross-country ski trail at the Arthurhaus for various reasons. On the one hand, it offers different tracks and lengths – easily extendable from one and a half to three kilometres – on the other hand, the view of the surrounding rock giants is a dream. With the Arthurhaus lift, the start at approx. 1,500 m is reached in no time at all. Even dogs can be taken along on a leash.

Birgkarloipe

Cross-country skiing at the Arthurhaus is a pleasantly varied affair, as this final tip shows. The Birgkarloipe circuit runs along the Dientner Sattel at an altitude of 1,370 metres. The approx. seven kilometres are a bit more demanding and undulating. Cross-country skiing experience is recommended.

Möserrunde

Three different variants in different lengths and difficulties open up the Krallwinkl. The terrain, which is quite demanding in parts, provides a pleasant Nordic workout over three kilometers and can be extended for professionals to up to 14 km along the tree line and across the other side of the valley.

The wonderful variety of cross-country skiing on the Hochkönig inspires our guests again and again. There are 30 kilometers of cross-country trails in Maria Alm, right in front of the Sonnenhof door. We would be happy to provide you with further tips for Nordic activities at reception. Have you already requested a non-binding holiday offer?
