The peak of emotions enchants winter sports enthusiasts from all over the world with its diverse, varied offer. In addition to classic skiing and snowboarding, the region “can” do much more. Tourers look forward to a variety of challenges for every taste and level. The Taghaube in the Hochkönig massif offers mountain-experienced alpinists a real challenge with dreamlike views as a well-deserved, unforgettable reward.
For this ski tour in the Hochköng massif, head to Dienten to one of the absolute hotspots for enthusiastic alpinists. The Dientner Sattel is located at about 1,342 m above sea level and mainly attracts hikers who enjoy the diverse range of alpine paths and mountain trails. As soon as the area is covered in snow and ice, however, the saddle turns into a real insider tip for ski tourers. Here, beautiful views meet sporty hurdles that require good technique and a lot of experience. One way or another, a look at the current avalanche report is a must.
The starting point for the ski tour to the Taghaube in the Hochkönig massif is the parking lot of the Erichhütte, which is closed in winter. The gap between Taghaube and Grandlspitz is already spreading to the north-east. In terms of orientation technique, there is little to say, the route is relatively clear. The predominantly left-hand path, which increasingly moves towards the middle, is all about technology.
As with many other Hochkönig tours, the upper part becomes increasingly steeper with a maximum incline of 35°. Due to the shady location above, caution is advised, especially in spring. The destination awaits at 2,159 m with a breathtaking view. The return is the same way.
