Winter hiking in Maria Alm on cleared paths

Winter holidays in Maria Alm do not have to be exclusively on the slopes at the peak of emotions. Off the slopes, numerous exciting as well as relaxing activities are just waiting to be discovered. Winter hiking in Maria Alm combines the best of both worlds. On approx. 85 km of cleared trails in and around the Hochkönig village, sporting activity, enjoyment of nature and fantastic views go hand in hand. Two particularly magnificent panoramic tours start in the middle of the village.

Winter hike to Hinterthal

The first tour starts at the valley station of the Natrunbahn Maria Alm and leads to the Hinterthal district. After a short passage along the main road, the hiking trail turns left and leads towards the mountain station and TOM Almhütte and Jausenstation Grammlergut with quite a few metres in altitude. The deep snow-covered forest gives the winter hiking experience on the Hochkönig an almost fairytale-like ascent. From now on, the route runs downhill to Hinterthal. You are accompanied by magnificent views of the mountain ranges all around.

Winter hike to Saalfelden

Magical panoramic views are also a must on this tour. The connection between Maria Alm and Saalfelden leads right across the high plateau of the Steinernes Meer without any major ascents or descents. Trail no. 12 leads from the centre of Maria Alm to the golf course, then via Oed and Ramseiden to Saalfelden. Wonderful cosiness and fantastic distant views are rounded off by a little stroll, because with over 140 shops, Saalfelden is not considered one of the most beautiful shopping places in the Pinzgau for nothing.

These and other paths make winter hiking in Maria Alm and the extended Hochkönig region a real treat. Combine your tours through the snow-covered nature with a stay at the Sonnenhof and enjoy direct access to the most beautiful active attractions for your winter holiday. All that’s missing now is your non-binding holiday request!
